- ※クレタ海軍基地（Nafstathmos Kritis）は、ギリシャ・クレタ島のソウダ湾 Souda Bayにあるギリシャ海軍とNATOの主要な海軍基地である。 NATOでは海軍支援活動ソウダ湾（Naval Support Activity, Souda Bay: NSA-Souda Bay）と呼ばれ、ギリシャではソウダ海軍基地であり、ギリシャ海軍の2番目に大きい（軍艦の停泊数で）海軍基地として、またNATOにとって東地中海で最大かつ最も著名な海軍基地として機能している。さらに、南ヨーロッパと地中海で唯一、最大級の空母（“スーパーキャリア”クラス）を維持するのに適した深海港を備えている。アメリカ海軍にとってこのような選択肢は、アメリカのノーフォーク海軍基地とピュージェット・サウンド海軍造船所、ペルシャ湾のドバイ首長国ジェベル・アリ港 Port of Jebel Aliしかない。ソウダは、クレタ島の北西海岸にある自然に保護された港で、オスマン帝国時代の1872年に初めて建設された。第二次大戦とギリシャの戦いの間、この港は地中海キャンペーンの一環として連合国海軍に対するイタリアの襲撃の標的となった。戦後、ギリシャの北大西洋同盟加盟 North Atlantic Allianceと同時期に海軍基地が設立された。ソウダ湾海軍基地は、ギリシャ陸軍第5歩兵師団の旧砲兵兵舎と、そののち取得した土地を含む500ヘクタール（1,200エーカー）の面積を占めている。施設には、乾ドック、作業場、燃料貯蔵庫、弾薬庫などがある。海軍基地は、ギリシャ海軍の提督または大佐が指揮している。ソウダ湾前方兵站施設（Forward Logistics Site Souda Bay: FLS Souda Bay）は、2013年までNATOの南ヨーロッパ連合海軍部隊（Allied Naval Forces Southern Europe: COMNAVSOUTH）の作戦管理下にあった。それ以降は、NAVSOUTHに代わって連合国海上司令部（Allied Maritime Command: MARCOM）の管理下にある。ギリシャ海軍の無線通信局SXHも1929年以来、ソウダ近郊のムルニーズに置かれている。K-14は深水岸壁で、空母が停泊できる地中海で唯一の岸壁である。2007年以来、ソウダ湾海軍基地はNATO海上阻止作戦訓練センター（NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre: NMIOTC）のホストであり、基地の北部セクター（マラティ Marathi）に位置している。2025年2月現在、12日にエジプトのPort Said近海にて商船Besiktas-Mと衝突した原子力汎用航空母艦ハリー S. トルーマン Harry S. Truman（CVN-75）がここで緊急修理有用性（Emergent Repair Availability: ERAV）中である
- ※2025年2月24日にハリー S. トルーマンは一連の緊急修理を完了し、現在東地中海で航行を再開していると海軍が発表した。リリースによると、この緊急修理には5日間を要し、前方展開地域メンテナンス・センター Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center、ノーフォーク海軍造船所、地元産業のパートナーであるTheodoropoulos Groupが関与した（1、2）
