↑SAN DIEGO (May 21, 2018) - Quartermaster 3rd Class Daija Anderson paints hashmarks under the Force Health and Wellness Unit Award (Green "H") on the superstructure of the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD-6). Each hashmark represent an annual, consecutive competition won, recognizing the ship's commitment to the health and welfare of its Sailors and Marines. Bonhomme Richard has recently completed its transition to San Diego, Calif., as part of a homeport change where it is scheduled to undergo upgrades to operate the F-35B Lightning II. ↑U.S. 5TH FLEET AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY (March 26, 2012) - Sailors assigned to the Navigation Department remove the stencil after painting the Battle "E" on the superstructure aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70). Carl Vinson was awarded the Battle Efficiency "E" for West Coast-based carriers by Commander, Naval Air Forces, Feb. 10. Carl Vinson and Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 17 are deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility conducting maritime security operations and support missions in Operation Enduring Freedom.
